Lalmba (an African word meaning A Place of Hope) is a small, non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 1963 that serves the poorest of the poor, refugees and orphans in East Africa.
Please take a moment to enjoy our short video on our work in Kenya. This hopefully will provide you with an idea of the type of work we do and the impact it has on the people we serve.
Lalmba was founded by Hugh and Marty Downey in 1962, For almost 50 years they have dedicated their lives to the children of Africa. Six months a year they spend with their children in Africa, and the balance of their time is spent at their home in Arvada, Colorado.
The children that live at the home the Downey's have established have lost their parents and entire families to AIDS and in most cases are HIV positive themselves. Over the fifty years many of the children that grew up at the Lalmba homes are now working at the home helping other children.
The cost of care for these children is a bit higher as the supplies have to be received so far from the homes and many times the supplies are stolen or damaged due to road conditions before it arrives to the children. Lalmba - supplies food, clothing, education and medical needs to these children until they reach the age of eighteen.
Would you help Lalmba give hope to these children. The monthly cost of care for a child is $60.00 USD. This donation can be made monthly, quarterly or annually, payable to Trinity Children Foundation - Lalmba.
You can be assured that 97% of all donations reach the needs of the children.
