The attraction to riding on two wheels came early in life to Ed. His first motorized two-wheeler experience was on a friend’s Tote-Goat scooter, riding around a cow pasture when he was about 10. At age 11 he remembers being enthralled each morning when the neighbor fired up his Indian and rode by on his way to work. As a missionary’s kid in Peru, Ed couldn’t get his auto driver’s license until age 18 but a motorcycle license could be had at 16. He got it on his 16th birthday.
A 25 year career in full time ministry didn’t leave much time for riding. His life was full to the brim with work, community service as a Kiwanis Club President, school board member, fire department chaplain and being dad to four active kids.
For the last 17 years Ed has been an Independent Wellness Consultant with the international wellness pace-setter, Nikken, Inc. He travels the world as a trainer, speaker and ambassador for health and wellness.
While living in Southern Idaho in the mid 90’s, he fulfilled his love of motorcycles by buying his first Harley, a 1992 Heritage Classic. He’s ridden across the country…to state HOG events, numerous rallies including Sturgis, Arizona Bike Week, Bike to be in Orlando and the Harley 100th Anniversary Party in Milwaukee. He has done fly-and-rides in Hawaii and Australia. His current scooter is a 2003 Road King Classic with lots of extras.
In 2008, Ed lost his passenger and wife of 36 years, Ginger, to ovarian cancer. Her legacy is kept alive by The Ginger Compassion Fund, established to help needy children throughout the world. His beautiful new wife, Rebekah, hails from North Carolina, thus Ed’s attraction to this scenic part of the country. He recently moved to Fayetteville, NC and looks forward exploring the state…starting with his trip, down the Blue Ridge Parkway last summer.
The cause of Trinity Children Foundation is near to Ed’s heart. He says, “It was a unique privilege to serve as Grand Marshall of the 2010 Ride. Rebekah and I are excited to help make a difference in the lives of children around the world.”
